Through life-changing programs, the Presbyterian Home for Children works with those in need to help them develop the skills necessary to help them lead a successful, independent life.

Moderate Care

The Moderate Care Residential Therapeutic Program serves adolescent girls ages 13-17 who have been removed from their homes by the Alabama Department of Human Resources due to extreme trauma and/or neglect and who have emotional and behavioral management problems that interfere with their ability to function in a family or community setting.

Secure Dwellings

The Home’s Secure Dwellings Program provides safe and affordable housing on our campus to homeless children and their female caregiver while our dedicated staff ministers to their needs. We empower the caregiver to achieve goals and reach self-sufficiency as we provide a safe haven for children who have been homeless to rest, grow, and play.

Transition to Adult Living

The Transition to Adult Living program helps women ages 19-24 who are having difficulties transitioning to independent living by providing a safe residential environment in which they can grow, increase life skills, and achieve self-sufficiency.

Family Bridges

Family Bridges is an innovative program to help families who have the potential to stay together or reunite by helping parents establish a safe, stable setting to raise children. The Home’s staff of Family Support Specialists offer parents techniques and strategies for behavior interventions, counseling, crisis intervention, networking, and support aimed at the reunification, preservation, and strengthening of the family. The program serves seven counties surrounding the Talladega area under a contract with Alabama State Department of Human Resources.

Temporary Supportive Housing

Temporary Supportive Housing serves homeless children and youth with their female caregiver. Most caregivers are graduates of our Secure Dwellings program. The program is designed to provide greater independence by fostering a high level of self-sufficiency while we continue to provide vocational and life skills development.
