A new and critical part of Presbyterian Home for Children’s ministry is to help families in crisis stay together. Evidence-based research shows that meeting families in their homes is an effective method of ending cycles of abuse and neglect. Rather than waiting until a child is without a safe and loving home, our Family Bridges program, an intensive in-home service program, delivers services to preserve and reunify families. The families we serve face big challenges and threats to their unity: divorce, illness, homelessness, and violence are just a few of the things they face. Our family support specialists use a proven approach to either help save them from breaking apart or to bring them back together. Families are referred by the Alabama Department of Human Resources.
