The Presbyterian Home for Children helps young women ages 19-24 who are facing challenges and difficult times of transition by providing a safe residential environment in which they can grow, increase life skills, and achieve self-sufficiency. This program is ideal for a young woman who finds herself homeless, has aged out of foster care or has limited to no family support. Upon entering the program residents work in partnership with PHFC staff to develop a plan that will move them to full independence. Residents are strongly encouraged to begin or return to college and receive assistance with student aid, scholarships, job skills training, financial literacy, and other life skills. Our hope is that with a balance of structure and nurture, mutually agreed upon goals will assist these young women in finding gainful employment or pursuing educational goals which will result in moving into their own residence and living self-sufficient, independent lives.
Transition to Adult Living is not an emergency shelter and only accepts clients through an application, interview and assessment process. At times our program is full and we are operating from a wait list. If this is the case we will notify you of the approximate wait time and you may elect to apply and be placed on the wait list or we will help you find an alternate program should your needs be more immediate.
