Presbyterian Home for Children is pleased to announce the appointment of Suzanne Cornett as Director of Development. In this role, Cornett will lead the organization’s donor relations, fundraising campaigns, and strategic growth initiatives to support PHFC’s mission of serving at-risk children, young adults and families at and from the historic campus in Talladega, Ala.
Cornett brings more than 25 years of experience in communications, storytelling, and relationship-building. Since joining PHFC, she has played a key role in increasing donor engagement, launching a planned giving program, strengthening PHFC’s use of data and communication tools to support fundraising growth, and building relationships with ministry partners across Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi.
“Suzanne has a gift for building genuine relationships and helping people understand the real meaning of this work,” said Doug Marshall, President and CEO of Presbyterian Home for Children. “She has already strengthened our connection with donors and community partners, and we are confident in her leadership as we continue to grow our development efforts and capacity to serve even more families.”
Prior to her work in nonprofit development, Cornett built a successful career in media and communications. She served as Senior Producer of Good Day Alabama at WBRC FOX6 News, where she managed live broadcast production, coordinated teams, developed content, and covered major regional and national events. Her experience in high-pressure environments and storytelling continues to shape her approach to engaging donors and sharing the impact of PHFC’s work.
“Every day, I see what this ministry means to the lives of children and mothers working to rebuild their futures,” Cornett said. “I am honored to step into this role and continue serving the families at the Presbyterian Home for Children by connecting more people to our mission.”
Cornett also served as Communications Coordinator for First Presbyterian Church Tuscaloosa and Director of Communications for South Highland Presbyterian Church. She is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Alabama Chapter, where she currently serves as Secretary.
