The Home enjoys a covenant relationship with the three Presbyterian Church (USA) Alabama presbyteries: North Alabama Presbytery, Presbytery of Sheppards & Lapsley, and Presbytery of South Alabama.
The Board of Trustees (BOT) consists of five trustees representing each of the three presbyteries to total 15 trustees. Each presbytery nominates and elects trustees to fill open terms. The BOT elects 10 additional trustees to total 25. Each trustee serves a three-year term with the option to be re-elected once to a second consecutive term. Stated meetings of the BOT are held on the first Tuesdays of February, May, and October. The PHFC fiscal year is July 1–June 30.

Junior Board
The Presbyterian Home for Children started a Junior Board in 2019 to bring young leaders into the mission of the Home to recognize the changing needs of children with their caregivers and young adults who are transitioning to adulthood, provide a faith based safe haven for children through programs which nurture, educate, and equip them to become the fully functioning persons whom God created them to be. The board is comprised of 15 to 25 members who are under the age of 45.
Our Junior Board organizes and assists with the Home’s three Sweet Home Soiree galas that are held in Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile each year.
