What can a sled dog puppy teach us about leadership and the power of believing in others?
For Presbyterian Home for Children President & CEO Doug Marshall, the answer began on a trip to Alaska nearly 15 years ago.
While visiting a sled dog kennel and holding a little puppy destined to one day run the Iditarod, Doug experienced a moment that would shape the way he views leadership and service. He felt God impress upon him a simple but profound truth: every person has God-given potential waiting to be discovered.
That lesson continues to guide Doug’s work today.
At the Presbyterian Home for Children, we believe every child, young adult, and family we serve is created in the image of God and has immeasurable value and purpose. Sometimes all it takes is someone willing to see the champion within them and help them recognize it for themselves.
Recently, leadership author Jonathan Fanning invited Doug to share this story as part of a collection highlighting lessons in servant leadership and personal growth.
We invite you to read Doug’s full story and consider the people in your own life whose potential may be waiting for someone to believe in them.
